Why “probably” isn’t good enough in this industry

Most people can take an order.

But helping a lineman get the RIGHT tool for the job?
That takes experience.

This month, Tallman trainer Doug Kirk gave our team a hands-on lesson that went far beyond utility grips. The real focus was learning how experienced crews think through the job before recommending equipment.

Because in this industry, “probably” isn’t good enough.

Doug walked through:

  • why asking the right questions matters
  • how the wrong grip can create serious risk
  • and why Tallman’s job is to help crews succeed the first time

As Doug put it:

“Linemen supply 60% of the information. It’s our job to figure out the remaining 40%.”

It’s a strong reminder that good support isn’t about selling whatever gets requested. It’s about helping crews work safely, efficiently, and within spec.

ACCESS SPECIALIZED TOOLING

"Owning equipment means taking on maintenance, storage, and upkeep when it may sit for long stretches between uses. Renting can be a great option when a crew needs specialized equipment for a job, but doesn’t need to own it long-term.
